Kundalini Yoga is one of the oldest Yogic traditions. When I first discovered Kundalini Yoga more than 10 years ago, it not only completely changed my perspective on Yoga at the time, but it also began to transform my life in unimaginable ways.

I had the blessing of receiving a 2-month intensive traditional Kundalini/Hatha dual Yoga teacher training certification at Sri Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh. Disclaimer: I do not teach the style of Kundalini Yoga taught by Yogi Bhajan and I have absolutely no connection to that school of Kundalini Yoga.

Kundalini Sadhana is an ancient, spiritual practice that allows each individual to deeply experience their own direct, inner connection to the Divine.

Kundalini Yoga takes us on not only a deep spiritual journey, but also as a student it allows us to gain an extensive understanding of the inner workings of our bodies. Through this practice we can truly understand, through our own experience, how the health and vitality of our physical, emotional and mental states can be brought into balance and harmony. All of our vital glands and bodily organs are directly connected to a highly advanced energetic network system, which has actually been backed by scientific research, and Kundalini Yoga Kriyas (a combination of tools/exercises) can be used to assist us in tuning in and to begin the journey of healing ourselves.

My Kundalini Yoga Journey

When I first discovered Kundalini Yoga I was already enjoying a regular Yoga practice. I was in my early 20’s, working in an intense high-pressure job and Yoga helped me gain a sense of calm that I had never experienced before. At the time I was also struggling with my sense of self, I had a drug problem and I was drinking heavily and partying every weekend. I had heard someone talk about Kundalini Yoga, so I sought out a local teacher and joined one of her classes. I had no idea what to expect, and it was nothing like I could have ever imagined. During that first class I felt my whole body vibrating. I left with a new lease of life, feeling happy and invigorated by the fact that I could reach such levels of pleasure and joy simply through Yoga practice. I have continued to practise Kundalini Yoga ever since and it has helped me to build a deep relationship of trust and understanding with my body and helped me to become free from my addictions such as smoking tobacco, recreational drugs, junk food and binge drinking. Kundalini Yoga remains my favourite practice to teach to this day.
